This was another early class project, where we basically just did some generic building and testing of a pre-designed escapement-wheel pendulum clock. So, why put this on your portfolio, if it's so generic and boring? Well, besides showing some general experience in a shop environment (drill presses, sheetmetal bending, etc), I spiced up this project by designing a pretty irregular (monkey-shaped) pendulum segment, and wrote a script in MATLAB to "optimize" where to place these 8 adjustable weights across the body to align the center of gravity and preserve the required 2-second period. This actually worked pretty well, and in my project writeup I show how I actually achieved <2.8% timing error.. Check it out below!
