I machined and assembled this entire kinematic ball bearing launcher for a machining seminar at UC San Diego. The drawings and Autodesk Fusion360 assembly files were already pre-designed, but through building this cannon I learned the fundamentals of both manual and CNC milling and lathing, as well as very basic ideas of GD&T, DFM and stacking tolerances.
The cannon consists of manually-milled aluminum base plates and struts, a manually-lathed aluminum firing pin, CNC-milled delrin chassis and ball bearing tray, and a CNC-lathed cannon nozzle. All components were machined to a tolerance of 3 thou and (initially) passed a surface finishing inspection (I've since dropped it once and spilled some oil on it, hence the dirtier appearance in the photo).
