In this class project, I manufactured and analyzed a pre-designed escapement-wheel pendulum clock. I laser-cut the yellow acrylic escapement wheel and pendulum, drilled and countersunk tap and clearance holes, and wrote a MATLAB script to optimize the locations of 8 adjustable weights across the pendulum body to vertically alignn the mass center and preserve a 2-second period.
The optimized weight staging achieved <2.8% timing error. The MATLAB script and testing process are both documented in the clock report linked below. Check it out!
